ChatGPT brand monitoring
ChatGPT is the surface most buyers reach for first, and the one most brands are asked about internally. Brytic runs the questions your customers actually ask against it on a schedule, records whether you were named, and shows which sources shaped the answer.
How ChatGPT builds an answer
ChatGPT answers from a mix of what the model already holds and what it retrieves at the time of asking. When it searches, it cites a short list of sources and those citations are where visibility is won or lost. Because the output is probabilistic, the same question can return different brands on different days — which is why a single spot-check tells you very little and a tracked average over time tells you a lot.
Crawler access
- GPTBot
- OAI-SearchBot
- ChatGPT-User
OpenAI uses three separate agents, and they do different jobs: GPTBot collects training data, OAI-SearchBot builds the search index behind ChatGPT's answers, and ChatGPT-User fetches a page live when someone asks about it. Blocking them is not all-or-nothing — a robots.txt rule that stops OAI-SearchBot while allowing GPTBot keeps you out of answers while still contributing to training. Brytic's free scan checks all three separately.
What Brytic reports for ChatGPT
Whether you are named
Mention rate across every tracked prompt, with the trend over time rather than a single reading.
Who is named instead
The competitors that appear for the same questions, and your share of voice against them.
Which sources were cited
The domains and pages behind each answer, tagged by whether they are yours, editorial, community or a competitor's.
How you are described
The sentiment and framing around your brand when it does come up, which often matters more than the mention itself.
